Good luck Corey. Been there several times myself, best advice I can give you is set aside about 2 hours a day, to research possible jobs, put together a good resume, with references and take it in inperson if possible.
The rest of the day is yours, but don't forget the wife it's just as hard on her.

RE: what a bad day.

That happened to me back in 1992. All my life I worked, my grandfather farmed and my father was a carpenter. Started out walking beans and helping grandpa and around 8 or 9 I was swinging a hammer nailing down sub-floors and roof sheeting. Took a government job out of high school andI got layed off in 1992 from my job of 14 years. Worked some partime stuff and collected unemployement for about 6 months before I got another job. That was the hardest part for me was taking the unemployement, I just felt low having to do that but it's there when I needed it. I got back on in government work and will retire with full benefits at the end of April at 48 years old. My wife said it back in "92"....."things happen for a reason". In my case it did. I got a better job, better working conditions, and better pay. So, beat the streets and get right back out there and look for a job. It sucks, I've been there. Good luck, you'll land on your feet. Hopefully for the better.

Corey, man I feel for you. I may be facing a similar situation in the next couple of months. I work for a company that has contracts with other companys for the type of work I do. The contract I was under for years finally ran out in August and I have been having to travel to other locations to cover other contracts that were short handed. The one I'm covering now runs out the end of March and as of now I have no other places to go. I take that back, There is a possible position in China for 6 to 12 months but I'm not quite ready to jump on that one at this time. I have job bids out both within the company and with other companies but nothing firm yet. If I don't find something soon I may be in the same shoes as you by the middle of April. As a single income family of four I'm not eexcited about the prospects of that but I know God has a plan for my family and he will work things out for us. Hang in there man and never give up hope.

Yep, It's not easy out there right now. I have been through lay-offs several times in my life. I got by somehow those times; but things are much more expensive now. I work 10-12 hours a day now plus driving time and still don't make much money. I am hoping the economic downturn doesn't get me again this time. Were busy; so that's good. Keep looking every day Corey and you will find something.
Most of the jobs today are found from talking to people or word of mouth. Get out every day and talk to people about employment.

Hey Corey, I'm a retired Human Resources Director with 32 years in HR. Here's some good advice - get someone you trust to read your resume` and critique it for you. A good resume` with the right details can make a big difference. If you have a State employment office in the area there is usually someone there who will do that for you. Good Luck!
