RE: This stinks!
damn,
I can't figure out what to say, that does stink. |
RE: This stinks!
AW POOP! Did you take off so much wood that you're having contour problems?
|
RE: This stinks!
Luckily no. Everything was fine. Trying to finish up the forearm so i can oil it. Wish i never put that stinkin stain on it.

RE: This stinks!
I did the same thing with the grips off my 1851 Navy. Couldn't understand why I couldn't get that one spot stripped and looking like the rest of the grip.:D
Like you, luckily, I stopped before I went too far. |
RE: This stinks!
That's why I never stain a walnut stock. The wood is too pretty, even straight grained walnut. IMO that dark spot is 'character'. Tru-oil, Linspeed and even just satin finish polyurethane (what I use) seems to bring out the grain. But being that you already stained your stock, be sure to let the stain dry completely before you seal it. Don't rush it.

I guess I am old fashined but I have never seen a finish that I thought compared well with Tung nut oil. Lee
