Apollo Breech plug help?
I think I got this in 1990. I am not sure this breech plug comes out. I don’t remember ever taking it out. I can’t get it out right now. Let it soak, heated with a torch, no luck , twisted the ears of a breech plug tool trying. I think I’ll call CVA Monday. ![]() |
RE: Apollo Breech plug help?
Looks to me like the plug is out. Of course I never messed with an Apollo. That's some pretty bad pitting you've got there. Are you sure you wouldn't rather purchase anew?

RE: Apollo Breech plug help?
Just got it out the other day, bedded the stock ( for practice) and it shot the three types of bullets I tried under 1" @ 80 yards. Don’t know if I’ll hunt with it but I got sevral person in my family to equip with ML’s. |
RE: Apollo Breech plug help?
thats a breech plug with a #11 nipple that screws in. By the look of all of that rust, i would recommend that you buy a new rifle. That i would not feel safe with.
Cut the barrel in half and throw it out. |
RE: Apollo Breech plug help?
I am not sure, but I think there was some kind of recall on Apollos wasn't there?

RE: Apollo Breech plug help?
I called them a couple of years ago- this was not one. Thanks

RE: Apollo Breech plug help?
I would agree with frontier gander. It is obviously a bad case of neglect. If that breech plug hasn't been out of there for 18 years, I doubt like heck if anyone could get it out. You can find some quality used inlines at a bargain. I would scrap it.
