New .45 gun conical advice
Should be here today after 2 days of UPS screwup. Someone said to shoot a box of conicals through it first. I pickup up a couple of different kinds at a local gun shop. The 285 gr Buffalo Bullets were marked down to $5.00 a box of 20. The Buffalo bullets looked like they had some kind of lube on them but I think they were so old it dried up to a powder like substance. I don’t have much experience with conicals, do I need to relube them or just shoot the to smooth out the new barrel? Also how many grains of T7? 100 grains. |
RE: New .45 gun conical advice
For breaking in a barrel I would us about 75 grs and not to worry about the powdery look od the lube . Lee

RE: New .45 gun conical advice
What kind of rifle are you shooting these through? What twist? It will not hurt to shoot the conicals through the rifle. In fact it should be a lot of fun. Just do not get upset if the accuracy you expect is not there. As for loads, if all you're doing is breaking the rifle in, 50 grains is plenty. If you want to see what they will do, start at 70 grains and work up from there. Many of the new rifles do not really need as much of a break in period as some of the older rifles did.
