WINCHESTER APEX

I recently purchased a Winchester Apex in .50cal.
I was wondering if anyone who is shooting an Apex would care to share any information about bullet and powder loads that seem to work well through this gun.

Thanks in advance,
Copperdog

RE: WINCHESTER APEX

Here are some loads that work in my son's Apex.

460 No Excuses or Bull Shop conicals with 80 to 90 grains of loose Pyrodex or 777.
200, 250 and 300 Shockwaves with 90 to 100 grains of loose powder or 120 to 130 grains of pellets.
285 Barnes with 100 grains of loose Pyrodex.

Best thing to do is choose a bullet you like for the game your hunting and then work up a powder load for best accuracy. Then, once you get a basic load worked up you can start experimenting with other bullets and powders while you have fun learning your new gun. Good luck with it.

If ya want to shoot big lead Dave has a good load there. Mine shoots 460gr no excuses with 75gr t7 fff into a raged hole at 80yds. I havent shot any other yardage with these yet but did shoot 2 deer with these and I was impressed with the damage these bullets do. Kerry

Thanks for the information.

Has anyone tried the Hornady or T/C XTP in 240gr or 300gr?

I've shot the 240gr. XTP's and TC Cheapshots out of my CVA Kodiak (basically same gun as the Apex) with great accuracy. In fact, I've yet to find a bullet that I can't get to group with some tweaking of powder loads.
