traditional .32 muzzle loaders
I'm looking for a nice .32 or if i have to .36 percussion muzzle loader. I'm lookin at putting more fun back in squirrel hunting. I hunted them with my recurve, didn't work, hunted them with compound, got really expensive loosing arrows. I have a .50 percussion hawken which is a great gun, i would like to find something just like it in .32 or .36. it also needs to be accurate enough for squirrel hunting. Is there any models i should know about, or places to look on the internet

RE: traditional .32 muzzle loaders
Traditions sells a rifle called the Crockett which is a .32 caliber. Another option is a T/C Renegade and then purchase a Green Mountain Barrel drop in in the caliber. There are also some inline .32 calibers out there but since you are looking for a traditional that is not important. Also you might look at some of the Blue Ridge rifles in Cabela's. They used to sell a .32 caliber Blue Ridge. Whether they still do or not I could not say.

RE: traditional .32 muzzle loaders
I tried the Traditions Crockett .32 and it was not accurate enough to suit me. Tried several loads and never found anything that would consistantly hit a squirrel's head at 25 yards.
If I already owned a percussion Hawken, I would look for a drop-in barrel (Green Mountain)in .32 or .36. |
RE: traditional .32 muzzle loaders
The possible's shop sell a 36 bobcat CVA that is real nice I bought one last year.. It shoots well I think 175.00 or there abouts

RE: traditional .32 muzzle loaders
You could order a lyman great plains rifle and then order a .32 GM barrel.
How about a black powder Double barrel .410 cva shotgun? I think the guy is only asking $200 for it. |
RE: traditional .32 muzzle loaders
I have a Traditions .32 Deerhunter in percussion that came with daylight sights and it is a tack driver. If you go to a .32 be sure to get a cleaning kit for it as well.Jag,ball puller, worm and fouling scraper.I got one from Dixie and it is worth having. Great gun for squirrel or rabbit. The barrel is also tapped for a scope if you desire to use one. Accuracy is fine at 30-40 yards.
