Seeing things?
Well the hear say is that it runs the same velocity as 777-FFF about 2000 fps with a 300gr bullet and 110gr powder that it is non hydrosopic that it is not corrosive that it shoots the same weather you wipe it or not and that the price will be between 25 and 30 dollars a can. What do y'all think? Lee

RE: Seeing things?
10 ounces of powder for $25-$30.00. It might be a great powder for hunting but for someone like me that loves to shoot numerous times a week, it could get expensive. Also what is the distribution pattern going to be for this powder. I ran into the same problem with Black Mag3. A great powder, a little expensive, but almost impossible to find without actually ordering it on line. Then to make it cost effective you need to deal in volume of purchases.
I just think if it is as great a powder as they claim, they might need to find a way to make it more cost effective, or I can see a failure on the average shooters market. |
RE: Seeing things?
Its being produced by a major smokless powder producer so the net work should be their, any dealer that handles Western or Accurate powders should be able to get it. The price sounds a bit high but might come down if it becomes pratical to mass produce, it depends on the demand. I think 777 is to high to but if it came down to a choice between them being able to shoot and hunt with out wiping all the time is worth something to me.
What will really tell the tale is how many guns it shoots around a minute of angle in. Lee |
RE: Seeing things?
i'll keep goex/pyrodex.
Every new product they come out with that is supposed to do it all, always turns out to have a flaw. |
RE: Seeing things?
At $30./10oz that comes to $48./lb!!!!!!!
I think I can live with Goex - Pyrodex - or T-7. ;) |
RE: Seeing things?
It is always possible, but over all thing keep improving. Lee

lemoyne
I certainly do not like the price, but I have already committed to 2 bottles of it from a local dealer... Might be the last two bottles I get unless the price comes down... I am trying to remember what I paid for a pound if IMR 7828 for the 300 win mag - I know it was not that much. As Cayugad said - if I just used it for hunting I might be able to handle it - but I want to be able shoot it all day most any day. And the biggest reason for me is that T7 works well for me... |
RE: Seeing things?
Even if it performs as promised, I have a problem with the price. I shoot a ton and 777 isn't that bad with a 25ACP conversion.

RE: Seeing things?
Mike, Most all smokeless powder runs fro $17.00 to $20.00 a pound here in Michigan.
This powder looks like to will go good with those $8.00 a hundred 209 ML primers. Got to be for therich people in some parts of the country. I'll stick with the cheaper stuff. :) Al |
RE: Seeing things?
I can get myself to pay $22/ pound for 777 in my area, I can't see me trying to get that for $25 to $30 sheesh,
|
RE: Seeing things?
Lemoyne - if this powder was readily ignited with a percussion cap, I think I would overlook the price to be able to leave my barrel fouled for hunting over extended periods. I'd shoot one of the others at the range all year long then go to this just before the season. I've heard caps aren't hot enough though to ignite it.
Hmmm, maybe those 10 grains of goex 3f under it you once suggested would allow that? |
RE: Seeing things?
10 grains of gorex screws up the idea of that non crossive properties.
Might just as well use the cheaper stuff. Who said a fool and his money are soon parted? I think If I was so worried about what gorex, T7 and other subs were doing to my rifle & the cleaning,I would just go buy a Savage Smokeless rifle. Pay about $18.00 a pound for powder and I could even be lazy and never clean the thing. :) Al |
