Decent shooting single shot pistol

Need a recommendation for a decent shooting single shot BP pistol in percussion or flint. Kit or assembled. Any caliber. Looking more for accuracy than looks or authenticity.

Thanks-

probably have to be the lyman great plains pistol. They only come in percussion, 50 or 54 cal. midsouth has the kits for only $158.

I'd get the .54 ;)

I bought an underhammerboot pistol kit as I wanted the lightest back-up gun to finish off game. It is basically a barrel with a grip attached. Very accurate but I think the guy that made them has stopped. I will try to see if I can find his address.

I have a Pedersoli Kentucky .50cal pistol that is very accurate with both PRB's and sabot's (rifling is 1:18"). Took a nice doe at short range with a 250gr SST.

Also ake a look at www.dixiegun.com for ideas.

Or www.midsouthshooterssupply.com

The Midsouth price is $180 for the Lyman Kit.

Traditions also has BP pistols in both Kentucky Style and their Buckhunter Pro. Not shot these though so no idea as to their quality or accuracy.

The Buckhunter Pro comes available with a 20" muzzlebreak barrel and takes a max charge of 80gr FFG. I think they are also tapped for a scope but you would need to check for sure. Nice looking pistol and up to 80gr shouldcertainly take deer or at least make your wrist very sore!

Lyman Great Plains . High quality for the $. Good shooter, too. I'm ordering the kit from...

Finished pistols and kits for cheap.
It's where I picked up my Trade Rifle(thanks again for the heads up Cayugad).

A Patroit, Contender or Encore. I had a Patroit that would out shoot some round ball rifles on the bench at 100yds. Lee

I have a Lyman Great Plains Pistol in .50 that is accurate and easy to load/clean. I shoot PRB and Lee 250 gr REALs with 40 gr fffg Goex.
I did add a set of f/o sights so I could see them. ;)

hey there Wabi,
Did you get the complete pistol or the kit? I'm torn between the kit and the completed pistol. I want to build the kit, but don't know if I can stand the wait to shoot.:D
