Glad to see I'm not the only one who noticed. It seems odd that he's not online since he is always online. I hope everything is OK with him.

According to the locals - he is OK - just on a road trip to another town in WI... still wish we would hear that directly from him.

Thanks for the concern. All if well on my end. My computer took a major dump on me and I had to wait for parts to put it all back together again.. I picked something up somewhere.. so I finally got it all back together....

Did not have a lot of time to tell anyone.. it only gave me 45 seconds before it fried..

Its not the puter that gives me trouble, its the crappy windows system we are stuck using.

corey012778 01-12-2008 10:04 PM

RE: Cayagad

frontier gander 01-12-2008 10:16 PM

RE: Cayagad

i think its xp. Not quite sure.

corey012778 01-12-2008 10:22 PM

RE: Cayagad

if it was vista I would tell ya to drop back to xp. microsoft is getting ready to put out SP 3 for XP with is going to add if I remember right 10% to 25% more to the os and SP1 for vista with lowers by that same amount.

my dad owns a software store and is a microsoft partner that is where I am gotting this info from;)

cayugad 01-12-2008 10:40 PM

RE: Cayagad

Vista came out with some Microsoft patches which was supposed to help fix some of the original problems from what I was told, but I still demand that I keep and use XP Professional series on my systems. It is smooth. Of course this is from a person that went from DOS 3.0 to Windows 95 and then to XP Professional. I have a brother that owns a computer company that builds custom computers and does corporate networking, etc... He is the one that keeps me running and a little up to date.

It's amazing how far we have come with the personal computer in just a short time. I can remember my first home computer made by TANDY (Radio Shack) that ran off a cassette tape player as the memory source. It really could not do to much. Now they have hand held models that would do more then the old rooms of computers of 40 years ago.... Some might be too young to remember, but computers used to fill a room, and you had to keep that room near freezing (well it was really cold in there)to operate them. And all these used to do was run production and spread sheets...

I have a different windows system installed on one of my other drives. Its mico mini or something. Its used for gaming, Someone took the program and cut out all the worthless crap windows installs and it uses a lot less memory and allows the games to run faster. I havent messed with it much but plan on it soon once i install some bigger games.

I don't even know what all this PC has, my son in law takes care of all that, God bless him.

RE: Cayagad

I really do appreciate the concern from all. I have often thought of how isolated a life I lead, living in the middle of a national forest alone with an old dog. And I admit, I do some crazy things that could get me hurt. Although I would not have it any other way. I will admit that while my computer was down, I never realized how much I would miss the internet and interacting on the forums. So I don't want any of you to think that I am not impressed and gratefulwith the concern members of a forum, people whom I never met in person, show towards other forum members. Perhaps humanity is alive and well. :D

RE: Cayagad

I mentioned that to my brother when he was up.. since he owns a computer company. I told him if he takes a good one in on trade, to just keep it for me and not tear it down.
