Default Rem 700 and 260 gr Nosler

I spent a week at my cabin this past week and did some BP hunting. I ask the fellows thatI let hunt to shoot a doe first and then take1 buck that is 4 or better on one side. Our bucks are growing better racks and thanks to my neighbors it is improving our herd. I watched this guy for 3 days but I just didn't get the shot I wanted. The late sat it was raining so I got in one of my shooting houses and there he was looking right at one of my laddera ( it will be moved ). I got my shot at 117 yards. I have been shooting them a little higher in the crease and it dropped him grave yard dead. The 260 gr Nosler was pushed by 105 gr T7 out of my Rem 700. The Rem was brought out of retirement this year and I use it every other hunt. The Omega is enjoying the rest.

Gee whiz! that is a darn nice animal...

Where did you hit him... what did you think of the damage that 260 did to the internals? I have been shooting that bullet for a long time now and really like it on whitetails....

I too brought a Remington out of back room for hunting this year... it is really hard to beat those guns... I have so much confidence in them I really do not know why I bought all these others.

I used one on an elk with a .458/300 grain Nosler Partition this year - pass through both lungs and part of the heart gone - the animal spun 180 degrees and dropped - wish I had seen it but the darn smoke was in the way...

Oh! I still have your Omegastock block on my to-do list....

You might use photobucket.com - from there you can post bigger pics - that is such a nice looking animal - I want to see it bigger..

Trying to repost your pic only larger... this might not work...

did not work...

I shot him right about 3 inches below the top of his back right up the front crease. It is a grave yard dead killer for me almost every time. I am soon to be 70 and my place is very rocky and I don,t like to chase blood trails anymore. I used the 260 Nosler following one of your post earlier.I shattered the spine. Here is a pic of my place called "Heaven on Earth". I have been blessed by owning this 478 acres. I bought it CHEAP in 1986. The cabin is a Garage Kit that I bought and my son set it in the woods with a helicopter. Great family and friend project.

Nice buck! Great story.
And really nice place! Your son set in the woods with a helicopter? That's got to make that a very unique place indeed!
