danger, I am thinking again.

I been shooting bullets weights from 230gr to 250gr regularly with 85grs of pyrodex p. they all to group all the same.

last range session
I sighted in with t/c 230gr (bullet brand unknowen) surefire sabots. then finished off with .430 240gr xtp green mmp sabot. they where hitting the same on paper. I did a session where I fired an 250gr shockwave, 250gr xtp, and 250gr golddot. it was a lazy session I did not change targets. I got a tight mixxed groups.

So if you where to sight in with a 240gr bullet then hunting with a 250gr or a 230gr bullet. knowing the results of a range session. is that possible?

I give the warning in the subject ;)[8D]

I would just keep it simple and sight in with the same bullet/powder combo you plan to hunt with,IMO.

corey012778,at the closer ranges with charges of less than 90 gr you might not see much differance,if you increase the charges to 100grs or more the harmonics will be stronger and some differances are likely to show up by 100yds when you get back to 150yds the cheese will start binding. Lee

RE: danger, I am thinking again.

For years I have used XTP's as my plinking load, however I make sure if my hunting load is different I work it out first and keep my rifle tuned to it during the off season. Reason being life can get busy and nothing like trying to cram it in for opening day b/c you got tied up doing other things.

If developing a load I don't bothering bringing a plinker, instead concenrtating on the task at hand and running a couple through the paces. I ear mark potentialsand start widdling down the list on further range sessions to find the one (or ones).

+1. I will switch bullets, a Nosler 300g for hunting, but practice with a 300g XTP both impact the same < 100 yards, not sure further never tried it. Best to stay at same weight, but it will make little difference in 10g. Chap Gleason
