See through mounts for Triumph
New to muzzleloading. I am interested in purchasing a TC Triumph, will likely go with a Leupold VX-1 3x9x40, maybeVX-II, andwould like to use see thru mounts with my set up. Any suggestions and advice appreciated.

RE: See through mounts for Triumph
Used to be an advocate of see through mounts. Later found out that they are too high, hard to useand not needed. Get a good quality mount that sits as low on the gun as your scope will allow.

Stay away from the see thru mounts just to high and much harder to to work with as you may run out of addgustmant on your scope. |
RE: See through mounts for Triumph

RE: See through mounts for Triumph
I agree with the others on see thrus. Weak design that is subject to moving POI's from recoil/bumps and mount to high (often causing poor cheek weld which IME effects shootability). On the flip side the see thru portion isn't great for usewith the irons.
I have variables on all my rifles and ML's, at the lower X settingsno problem with taking the in tight shots. If your situation doesn't really require higher mag for longer shots then getting a low X variable IMHO would be a betteroption (say something with a 1 or 2 x low). |
RE: See through mounts for Triumph
The Triumph is excellant I love mine; the see through mounts are not such a good idea the Triumph has a high cheek peice and its very difficult to get down on iron sights without anything in the way; its set up for use with ascope to start with so if you want fast sighting think 1.5X4X32 or 2X7X40 [those are what I use on mine [ Bushnell Trophy and Swift] set on low power while hunting for fast shots you normally have time to turn it up if you want for a long shot.
