CVA Electra ARC Ignition
 

Has anyone read any where as to if this new style Electra ARC ignition muzzle loader is legal to use during ML season? I read some thing about Floida is challanging it's legality as a true ML. due to the fact that it's not a percussion cap or flint lock..

I think a lot of states are going to be doing that because of the ignition system on the rifle...

In the Iowa 2007 / 08 Hunting and Trapping regulations it says, Muzzle loaders equipped with electronic ignition are not allowed.

I had heard Iowa was the first to specifically call that out as a no no but I am sure CO, ID, KS and a few others will jump on it by next year...

States would have to specifically include or exclude the use of an electronic ignition ML. Otherwise it should be legal.

As with any new to market ML, I would give the CVA ARC some time on the market and see what the feedback is from the field. Might be the next big thing.

For me, I consider it a boat anchor from the beginning. Having electronic ignition on an ML is a technological step that is just too far for me. I also see it as a solution to a problem that does not/did not exist. Pretty much the case with the introduction of the 209 ignition in my view.

I've never had a problem with percussion caps (RWS Dynamit Nobel #1075).

Its legal in colorado. I looked at one at bass pro and it was a very quality built muzzleloader. Have you handled one? The rifle justs comes up naturally and the balance is awesome. The Bergara barrel on it to looked great.

Yep, it seems to handle ok. But for me electronic ignition on an ML is not something I would ever consider.

If I were to guess what some of the problems the ARC may have, it would start with moisture and it's effect on the electronic ignition module. Seems to me that would be the likely spot for issues.

A down side to this approach is, if there is an issue with the electronic module, your ML is useless until you get it fixed.

With flint, percussion and 209 ignitions being much more simple there is really a small instance that the ignition aspect will be the issue.
