I don't own one, but I have a lot of CVA rifles. While an Omega would be my choice also over the Optima, I am sure the Optima will shoot just fine for you.

cva would be a great starter. They have a better stock than what tc uses, they are not as flexy. The optima actually has a nickel barrel, not stainless. for $209 for a break open with a good rep for accuracy is a good start.

I am happy with my Optima. I hunted this past weekend in snow and freezing rain. Unfortunately never took a shot. The gun has been loaded (minus primer) since last weekend. Took it to the range today because I wanted to see if it would fire. It did and so did the other 2 speed loaders. I figured it to be a 50-50 proposition.

I bought a CVA Optima Pro 2 years ago. I really love mine! It is fun to shoot and amazingly accurate once you get the right load in it and do your part. ;)I always thought that muzzleloaders had alot of recoil, this has very little...much less than a 20ga shotgun.

So far I have pulled the trigger 4 times on deer and dropped all 4 in 1 shot. I can't tell you how many pieces of paper I have killed with it though....MANY !! :D It's just fun to shoot and isn't that what we are all after?

Good luck with your choice!
