RE: New ML Scope
I have a Leupold 1.5x5 x22 I bought it in 1978 for 112.00 It is the Vari XIII. This scope has been on 7 differen rifles always sold the rifle. It has beed the clearest scope I own with the best field of view. I set it at 1.5 in the woods and you can see almost as well as with open sights.

I agree they are nice scopes... but I just bought Simmons pro diamond 4x32 shotgun scope and it has great optics thumbscrew adjustments, lifetime true zero full replacemnet warranty. If it ever goes out of zero from a scope issue they will replace. $68 Has optics comparable to the low end nikons. at 1/3 the cost. I'll admit I was hesitant at first, putting it onmy Omega. But it has been great. Good eye relief too. 4 1/2 -5". Just my .02

Not to change the discussion brand - but if I were going to get a new scope it would be a Bushnell Elite 3200 3x9x40 with rain guard lenses and a ballistic reticule...
If you want a Nikon and the Pro-Staff is OK - here is a outlet for a 3x9x40 with bullet drop compensator for $139.99

All the above mentioned scopes are great. I've shot my brother-in-law's Nikon Omega and really like it. I just happened to be partial to the Lupes (lifetime guarentee also). Bushnell & Simmons make great products nowadays. Cost has to be figured in. If it wasn't I would probably shoot one of those German/Austrian scopes.

RE: New ML Scope
I just mounted the Leupold VX111 3.5x10 on the Pro Hunter tonight. Its all bore sighted and ready to go to the range this weekend. I figured for a couple hundred dollars more I wouldn't regret anything a few years from now. If any body out there sets up this rig, I put the leupold double dovetail mount w/ med ht rings. If you went with the low like leupold website says you would have a hard time pulling the hammer, especially with gloves on when its cold.
Thanks for all the input
