My predicament, I'm broke
 

And my Tasco Scope i have on my CVA Optima will not stay zeroed. I had it sighted in dead on at 100, 3 shot 2 inch group with 250grn shockwaves 100grn t7. I shot again the other day and it hit about 9 inches low, its not the first time it has gotten off. I havent dropped my gun, or knocked it around or anything, I am real perticular with my stuff. The bullets group very well, I even got a 4point with it. But I am just not satisfied with the accuracy of the scope.

I dont have any money to buy a new muzzleloader scope, I however have a nikon rifle scope that I am taking off a rifle to use on my muzzleloader. I shouldnt have a problem with a rifle scope should I?

While a lot of people mount shotgun/muzzleloader scopes, I think a greater number mount the actual rifle scopes you find on most center fire rifles out there. You should not have any problem what so ever other then perhaps the eye relief. Be careful and address the rifle well when you shoot. Some rifle scopes do not have a lot of eye relief. But you should be just fine... Good luck.

I have used the Nikon that I am putting on it and the eye releif is good. I shoot my gun in a vice at 50 yards first then I move back to 100. I am going to try this and if it doesnt work I will change out the mounts and rings.. Thanks...

I somehow have a feeling that it is your powder thats causing the problem. I had the same issue like that with triple 7. Really pisses u off and makes you blame other parts of the rifle. Try a can of pyrodex or buy a new can of t7.

I always try to use $200 class rifle scopes and have had great luck. My 2 favorite for muzzleloading(and for rifle for that matter) are the Simmons Aetec and Bushnell 3200 Series. I have heard good things about the Nikon ProStaff for less $$$ too and a lifetime warranty with that one also.

I've never used anything but regular riflescopes. Stick with a good brand and it should be fine.
Just watch the eye-relief, as already mentioned. I have shed blood when I crowded the scope a little too much. [:@]

Gotta love the "love marks" on your eyebrow, got one of my own. I've got the Simmons aetec on both my 7mm and my muzzleloader and love 'em both. Stick with the most expensive you can afford and it should last you for a while. Good luck, Greg

My favorite scope is the simmons aetec. Its compact, crystal clear, and has a wide view. I would take it over a leupold any day

I had to replace my rings this year since I could not get the rifle to zero. I checked all of the ring screws and found on that was stripped. They were cheapos that I got with a Simmons scope. Rings maybe your problem.

Ahh the dreaded reticle drift of an el-cheapo scope. Tasco's should come with a disclaimer that says will become worthless at any moment. That said I know guys that have been blasting away for years on the same $29 value scope so go figure.

Go with the best optics, mount and ringsyou can afford or hunt open sights. A great setup for the Omega is the Leupold QR Base and Rings. Go with the meduim or high rings.

Actually there isno functionaldifference other than marketingbetween a "shotgun/muzzleloader" and a centerfirerifle scope.

Your Nikonwill work fine. Double check your mount and rings to make sure that everything is secure. Clean the threads (acetone works good)to remove all/any oilsand use a light threadlocking compound (LOCTITE 222MS PURPLEis excellent and removable if needed or 242 Blue if you need more holding power).
