RE: lead balls

Any rifle CAN shoot roundball out of it. The question is, will it do it in an accurate manner. The CVA Wolf has a 1:28 twist. The fast twist is more incline to shooting sabots, powerbelt type projectiles, and even conical. Although, a lot of fast twist barrels will shoot patched roundball with a light powder charge. If you want to hunt deer, try a sabot or powerbelt.

sabots or conicals.

PRB will work but you'd have to use a 40 to 50 grain powder charge and that would only be good for short range deer. I'd say under 50 yards with a 50 grain charge.

Patched balls shoot best from slow-twist barrels, BUT it is worth trying. If you can get good accuracy with 60 grains of FFg or Pyrodex RS (or the equivalent using some other substitute) your MV will be high enough to shoot deer out to perhaps 60-70 yards. In addition, with that twist, you can shoot full bore-sized pure lead conicals of almost any weight you want. Like 444 grains for elk! Try a Power Belt of 295-grains with 70-80 grains of powder. It should work well for deer.

In any case, you can shoot patched round balls for plinking and target practice using 40-50 grains of powder.
