has anyone switched over to the variflame adaptor kit to shoot small rifle primers instead of the 209's for what they say better accuracy.i read about them on Precision's web site.

I have in my Omega shooting 100gr T7 with 175 gr. Duplex Dead Center. Seems to help, I get about 2-3 “ groups at 150 yards, Ave 2100 FPS over my chronograpgh, but I can’t say it is the variflame for sure. Just decided bullets were too expensive so I would use every advantage I thought would help accuracy. Need too shoot more to be more conclusive. The doesn’t seem to be any hang fire issue with the smaller primers.

I switched over to the small rifle primers and have had great success with my 50 cal Encore.

I switched to the Variflame 2 years ago for my Encore and get excellent groups with 150 gr. Pyrodex pellets.

I shoot a .50 cal Encore and I shoot the max load of 3x50 Pyrodex pellets pushing the 250 grain T/C Shockwave Bonded (blue tip) bullets in the black sabot. I use the VariFlame with Federal small rifle primers and when I made the change my groups at 100 yards went from just under 3 inches to < 1 1/2 inch at 100 yards. That made me a beliver!

I am using the Vari-Flame primer adapters in my TC Omega 50. I just use the regular small pistol primers. Not the magnum small ones. It shoots great and stays really clean. Hardly no "blowback". I think ther're well worth it if you don't want to buy a custom BP. I'm shooting a 250gr SG Shockwave with 2 - 50gr 777 pellets. I'm getting around 1" groups at 100yards. I never tried the 209's becausebought the adapters right after I got the rifle before I shot it. My Z5 stays cleaner than any ML I've shot. Easy clean with a little windex.
