You will enjoy it very much... They are MOA shooters. If you have a choice I would get a Pro-Hunter or if you already have a Encore frame you could just get the PH muzzleloading barrel,,, these things shoot awesome and are sooo easy to clean with the speed breech. The standard Encores are nice also they just take a little long to clean,,, these guns feel like an old glove when shouldered, warm and fuzzy;)Most Encores like to be loaded hot so try 3 777 pellets and a 250 bondedShockwave... this load will shoot 1" or less with most Encores. Some other loads you may want to try are: 3 Shockey's Gold Sticks and a 300 grain Nosler(my favorite),,, 110 grains of 2f 777 and a 260 Nosler,,, 3 777 pellets and a 290 Barnes TMZ, or 275 Parker BE. Swab between shots with the 777, don't with the Sockey's Gold... good luck!!:)

I've got mine shooting 1" groups at 200yrds. I love it, I shoot two sticks of Jim Shockeys Gold and a Barnes 245grain Spitfire bullet. At 100 yards It shoots 3/4" groups. I use a good Nikon scope and I've installed a Mike Bellm 2 1/2 lb. trigger with a heavy hammer spring and barrel lug. Simply the best gun I've every owned. I also Coyote hunt with it using a .308 barrel which this summer I was shooting crows at 330yards.

My Encore likes the 250 grain SST and 90-120 grains of Jim Shockey Gold powder. It will also shoot very small cloverleafs with the 240 grain XTP bullets and 100 grains of 777, but only if the bore is swabbed after every shot.

I've owned a T/C Omega and now have a Pro Hunter, and I would recommend the Pro Hunter to anyone! Its without a doubt the nicest gun I've ever owned! Not that the Omega wasn't nice, because it was an awesome ML, however, the Pro Hunter has far exceeded my expectations!
I could shoot this gun all day long! |
RE: T/C ENCORE 209x50

RE: T/C ENCORE 209x50
The Encore is an exceptional ML as is the Omega. My encore is a standard 50 cal blue with walnut furniture. If you get one make sure it has or add the ez-extractor. Cleaning is not a big deal.
That said, I think if one were not interested in the barrel interchangeability then you are spending more in an Encore for the centerfire frame that could be spent on optics. Best thing is to shoulder severalML'sand pick the one that feels the best to you that also hold a strong reputation for quality and reliability. Also, it makes little sense to me to buya nice ML and put el-cheapo optics. Go with the best you can afford and you will never regret it. ;) M2C, Tahquamenon |
