2007 Buck down
 

Finally closed my tag on a WT buck. Not the biggest I saw but with only 2 more days that I can hunt I thought it was about time. Just under a 100 yrd shot with the Hawkens. Maybe next weekend I will have to try to fill my Mule Deer Buck tag for the last day of hunting. He has a 17 inch spread and 8 inch G2's. Almost a twin to what I got last year and will probably score around 135.

That is a great buck.. congratulations. I sure would not ahve passed something like that up. What were you shooting out of your Hawkins and how far did it run after being hit... Nice going!!!

I was still shooting the 460 grt plains as I was elk hunting until yesterday with it. It dropped in its tracks with a front shoulder shot but I did finish it off to be fair to the buck. I think I may go and sight in the 385 gr grt plains tomorrow and I will play with some still powder loads. Though the general deer season is over the end of the month I do have a special 3 tag deer hunt on the Wainwright Alberta army base. I was going to take a 30 yrd moving shot on it but I forgot to set the trigger and I grunted with my voice twice and he stopped just under 100 yrds and I shot.
I did up my powder 2 weeks ago from 80 to 90 grs so the drop was not the 10 inches that I was used to, which is good because I should have aimed a little higher.

Cayugad, you should consider coming on a deer hunt up here. Though I can never promise anything it can be a lot of fun.

Two deer a year , that would be nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sure wish some of sabotloaders whitetail will go south over the boarder into utah.

I understand they reproduce like brooke trout and can live anywhere.

Our gun season opens tomorrow, and any healthy adultbuck will be suitable for my freezer. :DBut then a doe is good eating, too. ;)
