Is a 300 grain bullet too much. My uncle gave me a whole box of hornady xtps and they are 300 grain jut womdering if it was too much. Oh yea i shoot 100 grain pyro pellets.

RE: Bullet Question?

Too much for what , they will give you more recoil than a lighter bullet, they are an excellant bullet for elk, they do not open as fast as a 250 and can past through a deer with out opening as much; if you like shoulder shots they are excellant for that,They are a very good bullet for a lot of things it just depends on what you will hunt with them. RE: Bullet Question?

If they are accurate in your rifle.. then use them. They should work just fine.

RE: Bullet Question?

I agree if they shoot then go for it. In terms of performance I found the 240 or 250to be the best for behind the shoulder shots on deer sized game, they open up a nice wound channel. 300's worked just finefor me on moose &black bear though.
