Traditional rifle shooting

Does anyone shoot a traditional muzzleloader (1:48 twist, percussion)anymore? I have a question about shooting round balls. The last time I went to the range I shot at a target at 50 yards and at 100 yards. The POI for both targets was very close. I mean there was hardly any noticable drop at the 100 yard target. Does that sound right? I am using 92 grains of Pyrodex powder.

The rifle is probably sighted in for 100 yards. So the difference at 50 yards would not be all that much on the POI. Roundball are a great projectile and I still shoot them all the time. In fact I shoot more traditional rifles then modern inline rifles during the year.

I do...Mine are a little more traditional...I have a .54 caliber flintlock rifled 1-72 and a .40 caliber flintlock rifled 1-48...

I have the .54 sighted in at about 75 yards...It's about a inch and a half high at 50 yards and about a inch low at 100...I use 80grs FFF Goex...

Crossing up the line of sight just before the ball gets to 50 and back down at 100 about right with that load it will be a bit low at 25 yd and about 2.5 inches high at 75yd a very practical sight in. Lee
