TC renegade question
I reciently bought an older TC renegade ML that has a brass plate nailed on the stock with the name "John Arnold Perkins" is this a home built gun with someones name on it or did Thompson make any comerative rifles. If its not something special I would like to remove the plate and redo the stock but dont want any regrets.
thank You, Bill |
RE: TC renegade question
Renegade has no brass at all on the stock:The hawkens has a brass patched box and if there is a K in the serial number yes it was built as a kit.
The older t/c guns are excellent if you are lucky to have a 4 digit serial number and check the underside of the barrel for a stamp spade or heart then it is a Sharon barrel other barrel maker for t/c were Douglas a another great barrel from early gun made by t/c I have 2 barrel both made by Douglas and both with the 1 in 48 twist shoot heavy charges of goex 3F and both are tack drivers with RB'S |
RE: TC renegade question
A Renegade with a brass name plate sounds like someone who built it and took great pride in their accomplishment. But I do not believe Thompson Center had anything to do with it. At least you are somewhat sure that the prior owner was proud of their rifle and probably too excellent care of it.

RE: TC renegade question
There is no K in my ser # and it is a 6 digit number. I really like this gun it appears to have never been fired and it feels like a quality rifle. Is there any way to check if this was a comerative rifle or something special. I tried to contact thompson but they never replied back to me. I also have a thompson inline thunder hawk , what do I need to buy to be able to take my guns to the range and shoot them?
