RE: Reloading and ML Questions
1. Thoroughly dry all oil/grease out of the bore with 4 or 5 patches.
2. Pop two or three caps on the nipple to burn out any remaining oil, and to see that the flash channel is clear. 3. Measure out a charge of powder with an adjustable measure. 4. Pour the powder down the bore. Slap the side of the barrel a couple of times to shake all powder down to the breech. 5. Start your bullet or patched round ball into the muzzle and push it down several inches with your short starter. 6. Using the ramrod, seat the bullet all the way down onto the powder charge with about 40 LB of pressure. 7. Make a mark on the ramrod at the muzzle with a pencil or pocket knife when it is all the way down. You must seat all subsequent bullets to this same depth!! 8. With the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, bring the hammer to half-cock, and place a cap on the nipple. The gun is now fully loaded. All you have to do now is cock it to full-cock, aim and squeeze the trigger. Boom! Keep yore powder dry!! |

One more item on loading the muzzleloader, don't forget to remove the ramrod once you seat the bullet, you might need it for the next shot. :)
