My horizon dun expandud 2 much. :D
I started shooting muzzleloaders using patched balls but quickly learned the value of conicals. |
RE: Failed @ Shooting PRB's
Shooting patched balls is fun,and a cheap way to shoot allot. The first deer I ever killed was with a PRB from a 45cal. Hawkin. He was around 45-50 yds,and it dropped him like a bad habit

but man that pyro stinks... |
RE: Failed @ Shooting PRB's
Sabotloader, with a pitted barrel I would suggest some things, use at least 20 gr corn meal it keeps the patch from being blown at the pitts, a heavy load of slow burning powder, why? because its the way it has worked for me.
A really tight combination of patsh and ball allways shoots better as long as its not so tight it cuts the patch. as far as I am concerned there is only two good patch materials split deer skin and and heavy ticking. I dont care what they say about bore butter nothing works better for patch grease. Lee |
RE: Failed @ Shooting PRB's
This isnt exactly perfect but it was close to a bulls eye @ 50 yards with the kentucky flintlock.
![]() Heres the patches from today. T7 did a better job @ 50 yards than pyrodex. 3 holes in one. Scroll to the right to see the pyro p patch. ![]() |
