Omega and Shockwaves
I sighted in my Omega yesterday using 300 grain bonded T/C Shockwaves,(2) .50 cal Pyrodex Pellets, and Kleanbore primers. I sighted in at 100 yards using a Caldwell Steady Rest while laying prone on the ground. I sighted in approx. 3" high which puts me dead on at 150 yards. I still need to adjust appox. 2" left.My shoulder had had enough as I also shot 13 Hornady SSTs from my slug gun and sighted in my New Englander prior to shooting my Omega. If I measured my group right, it is approx. 1 7/8". My first two shots were basically touching and my thrid was a little bit off the first two. The third shot was actully the saem bullet but withthe Super Glide Sabot. I wanted to see if they shot the same and they do. I will try to post a photo.
Also, I tried some JSG sticks I bought at a yard sale and some would not go down my barrel. They have the triangular taper and would not drop down like Pyrodex pellets. Are they supposed to be like that and just pushed down behind the bullet? I just stopped shooting the sticks and went back to my Pyrodex pellets. I will say, my shot with Pyrodex pellets right after the one withJSG was practically on top of the JSG shot. Are they fairly comparable in power or was it a fluke? |
RE: Omega and Shockwaves
It sounds like you have some good accuracy with your rifle.
With those sticks.. my understanding is you put them down the barrel then break them up with your ramrod. Then seat the bullet real hard onto the broken sticks. This is what I was told, and it is not from personal experience wiht them. |
RE: Omega and Shockwaves
I sure wonder about that business of breaking up the sticks, never tried it they shot good for me ,I just shove them in the barrel it knocks the cornors off and shove the bullet down on top of them. Lee

RE: Omega and Shockwaves
Cherokee, measure that group from center to center of the two most distant holes. I don't see 1 7/8".
That is my way of measuring groups and it isn't absolutelly accurate, nor absolutely the most accepted way - but it's close. Estimating the centers is difficult but finding the real edge of the holes can be even worse. |
RE: Omega and Shockwaves
underclocked,
I went from the outside edges of shots one and three. It looks like 1 1/2" or slightly less, if I go from the center of shots one and three. Is that more like it? I am using a crappy wooden kids ruler for what its worth. |
RE: Omega and Shockwaves
Center to center is the correct measurement for a group. The easy way to get that demention is to measure from the inside edge of one of the two widest apart holes and the out side edgeof the other this makes it easier than trying to guess at center in the field. Lee
