Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
I'm thinking about using my muzzy gun for firearm opener but alot of people laugh when I tell them i'm taking it with me during the firearm opener, why? I hunt in shotgun zone only. I do have a shotgun and it very accurrate but it's old and I'm thinking about retiring it. This will be my second year with a muzzybut my muzzy put downmybiggest buck last year. I do have lots of confidents in it. I think I'm going to use it during the firearm opener, who else is using theirs too?

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
I used a muzzleloader in modern season as well. Where I hunt the range is close, and all you need is the one shot. Besides, it makes it more exciting for me.

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
I plan to this year, Louisa co. is shotgun Buckshot country so a rifle outside of a Muzzle Loader is a no no.
Besides, I have more fun with it than I do with my modern rifle/Shotgun anyways. |

Wolf651
Been using a ML for the past several years, during all seasons - use a scoped inline during the regular rifle season and sidehammer for ML season... |
RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
I'll be using a ML during our firearm season. Probably use my White S91 .504 or the S91 .451.

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
I will if iI get it to shoot 2 inch groups at 50 yds

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
Well I have a number of high power rifles and every 5 or 6 years I take one out and hunt with it but mostly I use a muzzle loader, about the only time I normally use something else is for bow season. Lee

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
I all ways use my muzzel loader! Il. is a slug gun,or hand gun only state. So using the Pro Hunter is a no brainer!
|
RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
I think if the choice was between shotgun and ML that I'd take my ML. I keep saying each year that I'm going to use my ML in rifle season but I always end up with the 7mm. Good luck in whatever you choose.

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
Always do. Firearm, Muzzleloader, and Late Firearm. I don't even own a slug gun anymore.
|
RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
Always used a muzzleloader in firearm season, since 1993

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
My iron-sighted side hammer goes out tomorrow for for opening of regular rifle season. That's dern near sacriledge around here (meaning my part of the world;)), but oh well.
|
RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
I don't have a regular rifle and I don't want to shoot buckshot, so the smokepole is all I've got.

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
IMO, muzzleloaders are superior to slug guns. I cannot deal with the recoil and the horrible, heavy trigger on a shotgun (which was meant to be slapped, not squeezed, anyhow). A magnum capable muzzleloader with a 3-50grain pellet load or a Savage will kick the collective butts of 99% of the slug guns out there.

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
My inlines are all I use when hunting. I have two centerfire rifles that haven'teven been firedfor several years.

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
Meh i love the way my benelli nova with rifled slug barrel shoots. I have taken my muzzy out during gun season but not very often. I would however love to take a deer with my 7mm rem mag but maryland for the most part is slug gun only.

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
Use the Encore 209x45 for firearm season for 5 years .
|
RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
Smoke for me!;)

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
Here in Ohio it is slugs or large Pistol. I like my mossberg, but only with the shot barrell, the Slug barrell can't hit a barn. Still I can't pass on my Knight Bighorn .50 It is more accurate and I just love the gun! I don't think I will use the shotgun again. If we could use rifle here, I might switch off though.

RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
I used a sluggun a total of 1 season when I moved to IL (8 yrs ago)... thereafter it has been a ML. Austin & Halleck 320 & 420, Knight DISC & Elite x 3, White M98-.451 & S91-.504, and the Savage 10MLII. I own just the Whites and Savage now.
I would not hunt with anything else in IL... |
RE: Who's taking thier muzzy for firearm opener
I am definately using my ML for firearms season (IN). Since I bought a new Omega, the shotguns will be used for rabbit & bird hunting for now on. After all, it only takes one, well placed shot anyway.

Gonna take my wolf for stand hunting in the mornings and late afternoon and using the .357 mag for stalking in the woods.
