are these okay to use?

Will be heading out to the range soon. I picked these pre saturated patches up last year, rusty ducks black off patches. Should I be using these? or should I use something else? if so what would you recommend? Thanks in advance............Shaun

Sure. I bought some rusty duck at Wal-mart and I used it until I used them up, then I used the container for 50% solution of Windex and rubbing Alcohol (70%) and bought bulk 2" circular patches 500 for $9 from RMCSports.com. Chap Gleason

I probably would not - only because they are probably to wet.

If you were to sueeze out the excess they will work but in my mind you would be far better off making you own or even a just a plane old spitch patch - if you were not shooting to many times.

Here is the way i make mine.... Hope people do not get tired of seeing this in posts - but it takes to long to 'splain...

I USE BETWEEN SHOT A SMALL SPRAY BOTTLE FILLED WITH CLEAR WATER A FEW SQUIRTS TO DAMPEN THE PATCH FOLLOWED BY A DRY PATCH.

Rusty Duck Black Off is a great fowling remover. It really does pull the fowling out of the barrel. I bought some of their pre lubed patches once, when they were on clearance sale at Wal Mart. They are saturated with liquid. So be sure to ring then out with your fingers (RD back into the container is what I did) and then swab with them. Then a couple dry patches and you should be all set.

I actually like to use Rusty Duck when I clean my rifles. It is a good cleaner. Wal Mart also had the jugs of it on clearance so I bought them out of that as well. That was two years ago and I am down to six jugs of it now, but am holding out for another sale at the end of this year....

Thank's everyone for taking the time to answer. Cayugad thats exactly what happened to me I got the cleaner and the patches both on clearance at walmart last year. I will go ahead and use this all up (squeezing the liquid out) and then I will go with sabotloaders Idea on the windex I bet that works really good. I then will go with gleason chapmans idea use the container for the new ones, I will make. once again thanks for the time and help to everyone that answered...........Shaun

Put the new wet ones in a container with some new dry ones and let osmosis take over. :)

I have to agree that rusty duck is incredible at removing fouling. I keep a little plastic jar, just big enough to hold my breech plug, in my range bag. At the end of the day I put the breech plug in the jar and it's like new by the time I get home. I rarely have tochange out the solution. And no, I don't store my plug in the solvent...in case anyone was wondering. Tom
