Default I did it! Now can i throw up?

Lyman Great Plains Rifle better be damn worth it because i broke my own heart today by selling my cva big bore mountain rifle .54 flintlock.

Ok Now boys,

Ball size?
Patch thickness?

Already know i'll have to drill the stock lyman venthole out so thats taken care of.

Also im buying the kit so i can do the rifle the way i want it, so i'll be ordering an Oil stain and use linseed oil to top it off.

What are some good loads to use with this rifle?

I'll be ordering the .54 Flintlock.

Just get a new vent liner. I have never had to drill out one of my flintlocks yet. The rifle will shoot a .535 ball with a .015 patch. The Lyman like powder so I will not surprise me if it takes 90-100 grains of Goex 2f powder. You can shoot a .530 ball as well.

Yep, A deals a deal. The buy seems happy and excited about the new rifle he'll be getting so im happy with that. Now i just have to box and bubble wrap it after i give it a good cleaning so hes a freshly cleaned rifle.

Hopefully i'll be ordering the GPR in a week or 2.

The .535 shot much better for me,you might need to go up to 110gr for best group. I always run the powder ladder to the max at least twice first to eliminate fluks and some times a gun will have two or even 3 loads that it will shoot good its nice to know which one is best. Lee

yeah it is. I was going to post something like that last night, then I realized it was a flintlock. But I made the mistake of sleeping in the meantime.

Lyman vent liners have to be coned:I don't think they sell a aftermarket vent liner with a larger hole.
I use a lyman frizzen on my t/c locks they are a lot harder then t/c but have to be fitted.I have a frizzen from lyman must have over 500 shots on it and still works excellent.

I put a RMC vent liner in my Trade Rifle and have never had a problem with it.
