Remember a few days ago we were having a discussion on fire starting... Well, I was really intriqued with Dave's thought of making a candle in a cap tin.... So, today I rounded 7 cap tins and some parafin wax and candle string. Set it all out on the counter and got ready to build... Terry happened to walk through and ask what i was doing? When I suggested iwas going to make some condles for my hunting pack - I think she thought i was nuts, actually more nuts... I told her what i was going to do and how I was going to do. Do you really got to do it in my kitchen? I saw that look all over her face.... so she walked over to her nik-nac drawer and picked something out, set it on the counter here would this work? as she looked at me in that odd tone of look - I think most of you have seen it....

I said sure! How many do you have? (thought I might get her here cause i wanted at least 5) - she says "how many do you need I buy them by the 100's" They cost about $5.00 per 100.... I just packed my stuff up and went back to the rec room. In my head I was saying "sure it will work but mine would have been better." Sure I might have made a little mess but it would not be that bad!

She calls them a "Tea Candle" I put mine in my 5 in my pack and I am not saying another word about it....

I found a bag of 100 at WalMart last spring and have a few in my camping kit, my hunting pack, my tackle box...... I think I paid around $3.50 for the whole bag! A pack of 8 or 10 was around $1.50, but the bag of 100 was very little more. ;)

for those like myself that like to shop fromtheir chair. :D They had some battery powered ones too, but I didn't think they would work too well. ;)

Yep, sounds like married life allright!

Unfortunately "tea candle" just doesn't sound very manly.

Sporting goods stores sell wind proof housings you can put those in so as to make a tea candle "lantern." This will give you an idea of what they look like:

The candles are easier to manage this way and it doesn't add too much bulk to your pack.

Well Sabotloader.. that was a hard hunt. Sorry we got stuck out in the woods all night in the cold. We need a fire. Hey buddy.. break out one of them pretty nice smelling little tea candles would ya? :D:D:D

I have seen them at Pamida. They are scented for when you want to put a special odor in the room. I think you made a wise choice...

You are right Sabotloader.. they fit like a charm. Tell your wife she is a genius. Now I do not have to make candles anymore. Mine are strawberry by the way.:D

:DMike want me to send you some of my bees waxfilter towels to go with your tea lights?
Kare would not stop me from making my own candles or I would not let her have ANY of the money from it's sale (YA RIGHT.). Mine don't smoke like parfin ones. You can also buy tint for them and scent like pine.

UC that sale to you was one of the best investments I ever made.
The above picture is of this seasons capping wax, weighs about 30 pounds and is all sold to repete customers thanks to you.
I have a friend who is able to sell his honey about as easy as I sell the wax. I am trying to work out a trade with him, honey for wax pound for pound.
