RE: what caliber

Yeah Bear, that seems to be the most popular caliber for whitetails.

RE: what caliber

bear72 the .50 caliber is a fine one. Almost everywhere there are ball, patch, cleaning supplies, etc for them. I prefer a .54 caliber but I do own a .50 caliber also and found that for whitetail, it is more then able to handle the job. The important thing as all the rest of them will tell you is practice with it and get to know the rifle. Shot placement will do more for a "no tracking" day then anything else. Besides, shooting these rifles is a real enjoyment, and round balls are much less expensive then the sabots the inline shooter have to buy. Most of all be safe, and have fun. Good shooting with the new rifle. I will be looking forward to posts of how good the rifle is shooting for you.....
