That's what I bought.The machining, buying bits, buying special tools and hand loaders, expense of the breech plug is way to much $$ for me. If I had alot of time on my hands, maybe. But I'd rather be in the woods than at the workbench! JMO

I can see your point Buckhunter and the route you took is just fine. I hand load for several calibers and have most all the "extras" needed to prime, trim, etc. the cases and I already had an extra BP to modify so that is the route I'm taking for now. I also have the tools needed to do the modification so it works out to be cheaper for me to go this route. Who knows, I may end up where you are in the end.

I hope no one took my post the wrong way. If you have the stuff already, shoot alot, etc. then I can see it. I was mostly speaking for myself. Not much money here. I'm sure the total breech plug system may also be a little better, but if I were to buy everything, I'd havearound a100 bucks($60 milled plug, $20 loader/brass, $10+ shipping,etc)in the total setup. I paid $20 for the Variflame setup shipped. That's an $80 difference. That extra $80 can go for other hunting stuff I could use. Again, just my opinion. Hope I didn't PO anyone with my post. I should have explained more.

No offense here and no apology needed. We each have our reasons for what we do and that is fine. We each can also learn from the experiences of others and hopefully share some of our own knowledge along the way. By sharing we all are lifted higher and gain the benifit of others peoples lessons instead of reinventing the wheel again and again.

I have only fired 4 of the 25acp cases more than once. There was no noticable expansion and I don't think they ever will with only a primer in them. Midway has the brass for a little less than $11.00 per 100 but you have to add on shipping and an extra $3.00 for a small order ( under $25.00, I think ). That just gave me a good reason to buy more goodies.

Midway has them on sale for 8.99 but the 13.00 shipping made me back off on that.

For now I'm going to do my testing with what I have. I found a 7/8-14 hardened steel bolt for a few dollars and bored it the correct size to resize the once firedbrass I got the other day. Tried it out last night and was able to get usable brass out of it. They fit into the BP quite well now. I deprimed them with a spare RCBS depriming pin. I'm going to run them through my tumbler to clean them up a bit then reprime and test them. Should be interesting. I have 3 different guns that this mod could work with so I may end up doing a couple more. So far I only have about $9 invested in this experiment including a shell holder for my press and the 7/8" bolt. I got the BP for free from BPI so that was a blessing. Hope to try it out in the next day or two. Will report back on results.

Almost forgot, I also tried the 25acp cases in my brass 209 capper and they fit. I may need to use a file to slightly reduce the thickness of the lip of the capper but it should hold about a dozen of the cases similar to the way it holds 209's.
