Not to be contrary or anything but are you sure it is stainless? While CVA has some stainless rifles and built some years ago, most of the non blued ones put out in the recent past have been nickel finish, not stainless. I don't have any nickel guns but I understand they have a tendency to tarnish and if the finish is unstable they can rust just like a blued gun. What model gun do you have and how old is it (last 2 digits of the serial # is the year of manufacture)? That might give a clue as to what it is made of.

Hi,

Sorry about that the gun may be nickel finish. The gun is a Cva Optima nickel or stainless finish? not sure, I think you are right its Nickel. I actually heard of this flitz stuff but I wonder how well it works? I do not know which gun to use, I also have a cva optima pro but this one is blue finish and mossy oak forearm and stock. The optima is pretty much brand new I think its been shot one time my brother picked it up then sold it to me, because I really like the optima guns. I was just wanting to make sure I could polish this back up to looking pretty nice, if I did decide to use it. I have seen a bunch of used ss or nickel guns at the local pawnshop that looked terrible. Anyhow thanks for the time and help I will try some of that flitz out if it would work on nickel also anyhow thanks again.........Shaun

While normally JB bore paste will remove the surface rust from your rifle, I also have a "stained" CVA Staghorn in nickel finish. I tried about everything to get that dull stain out and finally gave up. I live with it. The rifle shoots well and the small stain I guess is all part of the fact the rifle is used and not sitting on a shelf somewhere. I never tried that stuff nimrodder suggested. Let me know if it works.

Hi,

I will let you know how the stuff works. I asked about that a couple years ago to the gun shop worker he told me flitz would make it like new again. I just forgot what he said that stuff was called I looked around and couldnt find it at that time. I will just get it off of here and see how it works on my other guns and Ill let ya know........Shaun
