is the difference in the price of 100 shots just the fact that you can get approx. twice the shots from a pound of powder ???

Yes, I am shooting 44g of AA 5744, which is about 1/2 the load fo 100g of 777, so about 40% of the cost. Also smokeless powder is cheaper for some reason than 777, which is about $27/lb where I live.

Another factor that Henry Ball designed the 10ML around was a 300g XTP bullet, which is one of the cheapest bullets on the market. As we have seen on the forum, the 300g Gold Dot shoots well in the 10ML2 also, so for 150 yard or less shooting you have two excellent inexpensive bullets to both plink and hunt with.

PS. Value changed to 44g of 5744.

Finally I shot the Unbonded SW, which was the most accurate a few months ago (June I believe), now they were not so good:
There are those "laws of muzzleloading" kicking in again.

I have a new "law" to add.

"Whatever bullet you think will perform best, will perform best"

That Parker Ballistic was your favorite when you went to the bench, wasn't it?

It certainly produced for you! Good shooting.

Good shooting Chap, looks like you are ready for your hunt.
Think you should check the amount of 5744 powder you listedbefore some one puts a 100 gr charge in one.May get more than a hard kick.
Wish you luck on your hunt and you get a monster.

gleason.chapman, have you tried the hornady sst/ml's that shot the best of three different bullets out of my cva, shooting over 100yds. the 300gr. seem to hold a better pattern than the 250's did,and I was shooting pyrodex 50/50 3pellets at 50gr. ea. I don't like the 50/50 pyrodex though burns way to dirty, had to clean the gun way to much to shoot tighter groups,I would actually like to know what powder burns the cleanest and effective........Ted

No, the Barnes TMZ 290 was the bullet I was hoping would perform well. I wanted to use a Barnes because of their picture perfect expansion and weight retention, but they just never shot right. That is why I shot them again this round. I really didn't want to shoot the Parker because of price, the packages of 12 bullets at Gander Mountain in Winchester Va are $17.99 for 12, this is the Remington package. On MidSouth Shooters Supply they have them for $13.xx, I was hoping the cheaper Harvester PT Extreme with the crushed rib sabot would shoot well in my savage, they are only $8 for 15, but not of the ones I hoped for shot well. I like what I hear so far about the Parker, 90% weight retention, 2x expansion, very accurate, loads ok. Chap

Greetings Ted, Yes I did try the SST, here:

http://www.the-gleasons.com/Hornady%20SST_300g_2007_06_02_AA5744_44g_FederalPr imer_default%20sabot.jpg

now that is not a bad group (1.75"I would say), but the very same day I shot the SW with a black sabot, not the easy glide yellow sabots and got this with 5 shots (all bullets touching each other and in the ring):

http://www.the-gleasons.com/TC_Shockwave_300g_2007_06_02_AA5744_44g_FederalPri mer_default%20sabot.jpg

So the Hornady bullet works well in the Savage with the black sabot, not sure what the sabot is, but the easy guide and the bonded with the easy guide did not shoot as good as the black sabot (cheaper packaged bullet).
Chap
