What would you do?
 

I just purchased a new knight disc elite 45 cal, but I don't have all the accessories for it yet, and was thinking about using about $100.00 worth of credit I have at Cabela's to purchase everything. However, I have also been toying around with the idea of purchasing the TC Omega 50 cal. listed on sale for $249.00. I could actually get that gun for around $150.00. What would you do?

That, for me, would be a tough decision in a lot of ways.....but I am not sold on the 45 cal and I know the versitility of the 50 + I have an Omega and it is a quality gun (other than the black plastic stock has some problems but that can be easily fixed) - I'd do the 50 Omega.... and I would e-mail/PM Wolfhound and let him know about need supplies for the Knight 45 - he could put you on the right track to get them @ the best places and prices....

If you go with the Omega - you will want to look @ the replacement 25 ACP ignition system from PR bullet - it is great....

Accessories vs. new gun? NEW GUN! :D

It really just depends on what your priorities are. If you already have what you really need for the .45 then I'd get the Omega. But if you need lots of stuff, short starters, range rod, jags, powder, bullets, primers etc...the better choice is to spend it on what you really need to shoot what you have.

That is a tough one. Beacause if all you have is a Disc Elite with no scope yet 100.00 isn't going to covereverything you need. I'm basing these choices on you saying you have $100 to spend at Cabelas. If not you'd be better off going with MidwayUSA or Midsouth Shooters Supply. Some stuff isn't available at Cabelas so I tried to keep everything in as few dealers as possible. You'll also need a shotgun cleaning rod and a 12 or 20 Gauge brush for cleaning the breechplug threads. I just use the handle section and the brush. Then just put a patch with solvent on the end and rotate inside the threads. Most people have a shotgun rod and a brass brush (I would think anyway) so I didn't link to one.

Needed for the Disc Elite:
Scope:3-9Xwould be best. Pick a good quality scopelike a Bushnell 3200.

Rings: Warne QR rings is my pickeasily.

Bases: Again I like Warne bases. The ones for Knight LK-93 are what you want. It's the standard round bases for Knight rifles.

Thread locker: To keep the scope screws snug. Permatex Blue available at an auto store.

Breechplug grease: Permatex Anti-Seize available at an auto store.

Bullets: I've heard the 200 SST is a good choice for a .45

Powder: Pick up some .45 caliber pellets locally (saves a $20 hazmat) I'd say loose powder but then you need a measure and flask.

These are pretty much the basics. Other things that are helpful are a range rod, a solid replacement ramrod andtubes for holding bullets and powder. There's probably others but I'm drawing a blank at anything else. I might remember something later.

If I get the chance later today I'll do a sabotloader and make a helpful guide for cleaning an Extreme/Elite style rifle. I know there's at least one other person who might benefit from it here.

what good will a new gun do you when you dont even have the accessories for the muzzleloader that you do have?
Lets keep it simple.
Powder flask, cleaning jag, barrel mop " i like to use those for the breechplug" Powder measure, Short starter " you can make one yourself" Pack of Discs, Bore brush, Anti seize, Bottle of windex for your cleaning solution. I dont see $100 in that setup that will get you started and clean your rifle after you are done at the end of the day.

Yep. Keep what ya got and get it dialed in. I know several guys over on the Savage Forum who shoot .45 cal Savages and use a .451 bullet with no sabot. I don't know if that will work for you, but that is a very flat shooting combo. Chap Gleason

He's got a Disc Elite not an Extreme. The Elite has no sights. Some of the other stuff would help though. I don't use windex so I don't know how good it is. I know a lot of guys like it though.

I would get the stuff for the Knight give it a try and if you dont like it.Sell it and get the Omega.Either rifle you have to have the acessories.The Omega may be easeir to clean, but Knight is a better rifle. Hahahahahaha Just kidding they are both fine rifles
