Update to my post. I took doegirls advice and called Bellms and 2 wks later got my frame back. I just got back from the range andI am totally amazed at my groups at this point.

In addition to the trigger work, I converted my breech plug to the .25acp ignition system, switched to loose 777 powder at 110 grains, with a dead center bullet at 300grains. I also got rid of that hinge pin and got a pin that you can tighten down so there will be no play in the barrel.

Now, I finally have something fun to shoot!!!

Oh, no your going to turning into an Accuracy Nut!!! I know the signs, get a gun that really shoots and love "putting the clover leafs on the target". Ask DoeGirl what she shoots now, she has got a bunch of'em!

It's always nice to have a real accurate rifle ... no matter what make, model, what ever. Sounds like the trigger job and the breech change might have really helped. Good luck with your rifle.

gowkout I did ALL the same things you just got done about 1 year ago and its amazing how sweet the gun and the accuracy is WAY better. The only difference is I shoot 105grains and I shoot 250gr Shockwaves. Other then that you will love the clean ignition of the .25acp's...just make sure you dont have the wet patch when you clean the barrel between shots too wet. I have had a couple of misfires because too much moisture (and 1 dry patch doesnt dry it enough) can cause flame out which never happened before with the 209's. If people think there Encores are not accurate they should consider doing what you and I did... its not cheap but hey... going to the gas station isnt cheap anymore either.

With these kind of success stories with those modifications, you start to wonder why they don't build them that way in the first place.

When you have the trigger set so low do a check by pushing on the hammer when it's cocked and see if the hammer falls. If it does it might present a problem. I don't think the gun will fire in this condition unless you pull the trigger, but it might be possible...give it a try and let us know what happens please.

AZB, I just checked it and no it does not move the hammer forward when I push on it when it is cocked...you had me worried there for a minute as I had not thought of that, thanks. BTW I will also be in NM, Cloudcroft area for the opening of MZ. I will arrive on the 4th and do a little scouting and get the gun checked and settled in for the weeks hunt. I am so amp'd up I can hardly sleep!! I saw it was in the 40's last night in the area where I am going to hunt.

Good Luck.

gowkout,

little more than two weeks and then I'm off for two weeks hunting elk in Los Alamos, NM and then Durango,CO...this waiting is getting harder by the min.

Didn't mean to put a scare into anyone but even if the hammer did fall it has a safety block to prevent it from hitting the primer is what I was told, but it's still good to know.
