Too long of rod?
 

No bragging please.:DI bent my original field rod but cva was kind enough to send me a replacement.(graphite) The replacement is about an inch, inch and half longer than the barrel with the jag. It doesnt appear that it would interfere with a shot but you know how that goes. Does anyone else have a longer rod than barrel or do you suggest cutting it down.

Is the jag removable?
Whatever sticks out past the muzzle will soon be black. ;)

Yeah my ramrod is about an 1 1/2" longer than the original. Works great and comes in handy when you need to clean in the field. Some guys with traditional rifles with leave 3 to 4" extra on their ramrods.

Jag is removable but wouldnt that be a pain in the arse on a quick reload?

I shoot a couple rifles like that all the time. The loading jag and end stick out past the end of the muzzle. The worst part is when your loading a sabot or roundball and you suddenly move down to the muzzle and that thing hits your fingers. Take it out before you use the short starter. Your fingers will be most grateful.

When the brass jag gets too dirty, soak it in brasso and then take a metal short brush to it. They clean right up.

Thanks oldrookie, you just saved me from ask if it is normal for the jag to be longer then the barrel.

I always use a rod with a jag on it . I never measure them but I would guess that 1.5 inch past the barrel would be close.Lee

Thanks guys for the info. With the original, the jag was flush with the end of the barrel. Didn't want to do something stupid and didnt want to cut it down for I assume its hollow core.

No don't cut it down. I have a spin jag on the end of my rod and it sticks out about 2 or 3 inches. No problem. Chap Gleason
