.25 ACP ignition help
 

On the "cleaning the omega" post Wolfhound mentioned the ACP ignition which I am unfamiliar with. I did a search of the forum posts and it sounds like a great option for my omega.

Outside of muzzleloading I am reloading illiterate. So when I order a specialized ACP breech plug from Precision bullet it comes with 12 unprimed .25 casings. What else do I need for equiptment to reprime casings?

If you get one of these ignition systems - before you prime any of the cases insert the new breech plug in you gun. Then with each of the shells insert it into the breech plug and close the breech. You will find taht when you close the breech some of them will be difficult. What you are doing is forming the mouth of the case to the bottom of your breech plug.... it will be a tight seal that way.

Best of all I don't need to use the Lee auto prime and I load the cups at the bench as I wait for my gun to cool between shots.

The downside to the variflame is it's no different than a regular 209 for sealing in the blowback. The 25 ACP ignition seals it.

The vari-flame does work to allow the use of cooler primers... but it is no way as clean as the 25 ACP nor is it as handi for inserting and removing shells.

De-capping and re-priming once you have down it and you have a good number of standby shells is no big deal....

Go 25ACP...

The VariFlame does allow for the use of a small pistol or rifle primer that doesn’t burn as violently (hot) as a 29 primer and my groups did tighten up by 2/3’s. Since I personally haven’t used the 25 ACP system I can’t make any vast judgments (good, bad or off the cuff) on that system but the VariFlame cups are easy to remove and I haven’t had any problems with them as long as I keep everything clean.
