RE: let me tell you about cheap and anal
Your right of course... it would be hard to clean up. I made the mistake one winter of shooting spray paint can I had got of sale for craft projects, in front of my target trap. That spring when the snow melted.. what a mess. Although paint that was so terrible it would not stick to anything I tried to apply it to, stuck to that steel trap that sat out in the elements for years...

Hey leehop, I certainly would not use glitter - but ten or twenty grains of cornmeal or grits between the powder and a lead conical is often a good thing. No harm at all.

Many times I use corn meal between the powder and the projectile as a buffer. Especially when using hot powders like Triple Se7en. I have shot hundreds of rounds off that way with no ill effect to the rifle, the accuracy in many cases, nor myself.
The early pioneers use to use wasp nest as a buffer. I read that in a mountain man book.
