RE: Inconsistant Groups
If your can of APP has been opened for several months, take the lid off and sniff it. If it smells like brown sugar it has gotten moisture and is deteriorating. Same thing happens with JSG. Mine was opened in Sep. of last year. When i checked it two weeks ago itis smelling like brown sugar.
My Encore was very accurate with 90 grains of JSG from that can. Not sure now. That opened can of JSG seemed inconsistent when used in another gun about ten days ago.Got to shoot it all up and get another can. When that can is opened it will go into an Army ammo can with dessicant. Be careful what you use in the bore of your gun. i use Militecin the bore ofmyEncore. The stuff kind of penetrates the metal and i have to swab it out really well with alcohol before loading. Otherwise there is that crud ring. Good luck.:D:D |
RE: Inconsistant Groups
ORIGINAL: RHanbaum Wondering if anyone has experienced inconsistant groups with American Pioneer Powder? I shoot a 50cal encore with 100grs, APP with 250 grain Shock wave. First round at 50 yds was on, the second and third were way off, almost off the paper. Re-shot with 100 grs of pyrdex select pellets. The three shot group was on. I did use T/C boreb utter between rounds. Any ideas as to the inconsistant results? Thanks |
RE: Inconsistant Groups
"Irecall most Encores like a hot loads, up your load some, 120g or 130g of loose."
Stopped load development at 90 grains of granular because my Encore made cloverleafs at 100 yards with the 250 grain SST bullet. Will try some heavier loads when i get a new can of powder. Thanks. |
