Default "NonFires" out of 2 guns today.

Well for the first time I had misfires/no-fire in both my Encore and my T/C Renagade .54 today. I had NEVER experienced this before personally but seen this from others quite a few times. I am meticulous with how I do things and very regimental on cleaning between shots, etc.

I believe it was a weather related issue... 90 degrees with 100 percent humidity... off and on rain. I was shooting a brand new container of Triple Seven FFG loose powder. I took 4 or 5 shots with my Encore using "Pellets" and dialed in the scope. I then switched to the loose powder and made 3 or 4 shots with no trouble. I then pulled out the .54 Round Ball Percusion and on the first shot was a dud. After trying to fire off 4 or 5 more caps I gave up and went back to the Encore. I loaded it up and went to shoot and.... nothing with this gun...ugh!

This wasnt anything I was used to having happen to me and so I was not happy at all. I can only believe all the moisture in the air had a something to do with this. Has anyone had anything similar to this happen to them? I never had problems with Triple Seven before but was wondering if this could have also possibly been the problem. The shots I did fire were ALL inside 2" groups at 75 yards. The pellets and the loose powder were all tightly grouped considering the med. hard rain. (Yes I had a roof over my head) I was under a time constraint and had to leave the range. I am hoping to try shooting again under similar conditions sometime soon. I'll be better prepared to then try different powders to see if it happens again.

Anyone have any input on similar things happening to them? Solutions? Suggestions?

If you took the container outside with you, and poured from the #1 T-7 container, it might have absorbed some moisture and that was causing your problems. Other then that, there have been many times I have shot in the snow or rain and had no problems. That would be the only thing I could think of, unless you were swabbing the barrel with too wet of a patch and not getting things dry when you loaded.

I am guessing the first part, that the pound of powder absorbed moisture is what happened. It took about five shots worth of time for it to finally suck up that moisture.

Weird - I shoot T7 also and i shoot all the time target shooting in the rain...(i'm knocking on wood right now) but I have never had a moisture absorbtion problem - T7 has really done well for me in wet weatherand I will spend several hours shooting- but, on average we normally do not have a high humidity. When shooting in the rain the jug sits on the tailgate of the pick-up but I do close the funnel snap cap and there is a cheap plastic tarp strong up to keep the rain from hitting the tailgate directly.

Almost sounds like one of those things that you got to be there to see it... type thing
