Savage 10ML
 

Doing a research on Muzzleloaders in the BATF I ran across something interesting that I didn't know,

Q. Is the Savage model 10ML rifle which has the characteristics of both a modern firearm and a muzzleloader regulated under the Gun Control Act?

The original 10ML (with the modules) was classified as a firearm by the BATF. The 10ML-II is not classified as a firearm.

Of all the inlines out there, the Savage ML-10 II or the Knight Rolling block have really got my interest. I really like to see how well a rifle can be made to shoot and I think the Savage would be one of them. Besides, it would make a heck of a hunting rifle. From looking at some of the Savage range reports, they are real shooters without a doubt.

cayugad,you should try you a savage as much as you like to shoot they are really fun to shoot and pretty darn accurate,but they are like any other muzzleloader you have to find the loads that it prefers.
I shot the groups below trying some different powder than I us regularly.
The bottom target is at 300 yds,3-shot group,measures 1.196 in outside to outside - .452 ==.744
Just shot these tuesday morning.

Herman, you are one heck of marksman. It doesn't seem to matter whether it's triple 7 or smokeless, you seem to put them right in there. Good shooting.:)

Thank you,I really owe it to practice more than marksmanship.I trully believe at least 90 % of the shooters could get just as good groups if they shot as much as I do.I am at the range at least one day a week and fire from 100 to 300 rds a week.Three years ago I put over 1500 rds through 2 savages just in that year.
The pic of the 300 yd group didn't show to good and I tried inlarge it to see it better,will post it an see if it works better.I remeasured it too when I posted it here and just noticed I got different measurement,than when I measured it last night,1.196 vs 1.254=.744 vs .802 but made very little difference.It is the tightest group I have gotten with the savage at 300 yds.

Kevin,lets us know how you do.I am allways interested in how others do,with their savages and reg inlines.I help others set up their muzzleloaders every year and everything I learn from others sure helps.
