RE: $200 to spend?

No matter what rifle you pick, remember that is the begining of the cost. Then you have primers, cappers, short starters, cleaning jags, solutions, powder measure, powder, and finally projectiles. I would hate to think what I spend a year on just powder, primers, and projectiles. I just got some more in today in fact. So keep that in mind with your budget.

I have no doubt that once you try muzzleloaders, you will be hooked.

So, everyone here thinks CVA is one of the better guns?
Ummm, no :DBut they are the guns that are in that price rangeand won't be a POS. Add another vote for Midsouth Shooter's Supply for getting some of the best prices. Wal Mart ought to have a few of the same gunsfor even less. If you can fork the extra out, get a T/C Omega...you can probably pick one up for around $250. I believe Cabela's is having a BP sale still, you might check out what they've got.

Anyways, on the strict $200 dollar range: CVA Optima, Traditions Pursuit and Pursuit LT, CVA Kodiak, and NEF Sidekick.

The gun will be used for deer hunting. I really appreciate all the links everyone put in the thread. I am sifting through all of the links and reading as much info as I can.

Read all the links I sent you first, since it tells you how to select a ML. You have to have some criteria in mind, like what your state will allow. So ask your hunting friends who want to get you into this what they use and recommend, read the posts on ML selection, then go handle a couple, see if you like them. The Knight Disc Elite for $220 is a steal, they are an accurate great gun. Chap Gleason
