RE: New rifle came in!
That looks real nice for a priming horn. They are not supposed to he large. Just enough for about twenty shots or so. I never really counted how many primes I get out of my small brass one, but it gives out 3 grains per plunge.

RE: New rifle came in!
Thats what i had, the small brass plunger. I just got tired of the ugly look and stole the plunger off it and made this one. Right now i think it holds about 50 grains of powder, once i get more sand rolls i'll be able to egg it out in there so i can carry more. I like it though. Im going to taper the ends tomorrow. Just finished unbrowning everything and im beat. I have to get a couple items to finish the barrel and tang the way i want. Then its time to work on the stock.

RE: New rifle came in!
Nice... It looks familiar, I have a percussion version I bought as a kit back in 1980 for about $90 I think. Seemed like a lot of money at the time. I finished it similar to what that one looked like, but hope I did a better quality job than what you found. Haven't shot that rifle in a long time, it's moreof a wall hanger now, but still functional. Enjoy.

Here it is in white. I'll pick up my supplies monday and finish the barrel/tang. Looks a lot better without all that uglyt brown crap globbed onto it.

RE: New rifle came in!
Heres the stock so far. I used birch wood casey Walnut stain and did 12 coats, letting each coat dry before adding more. So far ive only done one coat of tru oil, just to make sure i got the color dark enough to my liking. So 12 coats and its just right for me. Barrel and lock still need to be finished but i'll get to that once i finish the stock.
