Question about TC Omega

Has anyone tried 150gr powder charges in their Omegas yet? I was wondering if the 28" barrel has proved to help any? Reason I ask, I have tried magnum charges, ignited with a 209, in my Black Diamond, 22" barrel, just to return to my standard 100gr charge for a cleaner burn and better accuracy. I usually found large amounts of unburned residual power left behind and suspect I was losing equal amounts out the end of the barrel. I always attributed these "incomplete burns" to the lack of barrel length needed to burn that much powder, which ultimately resulted in poor accuracy. I was wondering if the additional barrel length was delivery a more consistent and/or "complete" burn, thus possibly resulting in better accuracy from a magnum charge.

Thanks,
Toby

RE: Question about TC Omega

Toby,

I think your theory is correct. Unfortunately, I don't have an Omega to test at this time. I read that the old timers would determine the load for their rifles by firing over a blanket of fresh snow and increase the load until they found unburned powder. They then backed off the load a bit and knew they were not wasting powder when they shot.
