List your caliber and favorite bullet combo!

I've been shooting 240 XTP's from my 50 cal TC BD. I'm wanting to try something new.

I'm looking for a bullet with a stronger, more reliable construction and a little more weight.

Toby, I shoot the same as you. I have tried new bullets and combos but just can't beat the 240, it has put 7 deer and 1 bear down all within 75 yards. Hard to really complain, plus my groups are the tighest with that load combo I have tried. I still like to tinker with my loads and guns, always easy go back and fun to just shoot!

I posted about 180 Parts and 50 cal a week or so ago and no replies. Anybody use this bullet? What charge?Type? What Primer? What are your experiences, accuracy, speed, drop and on the game end? Thanks

I like the Precision Rifle QT 235 .40cal w/.50cal sabots. They work very well, are pretty easy to load, accurate, and they don't drop like a stone after 100 yards because of their high BC. They will also absolutely wreck a whitetail deer at 75 yards (at least they did mine).

As for powder I've been using 100 grains of Triple 7 2F. I was using 3F, but found accuracy was better with 2F and recoil was also a little less. Last weekend I went to the range and spent the day firing off some of the misc. bullets I have laying around and found that my Knight seems to like .45cal sabots better than the .40's in every type of bullet I tried. My next order of QT's will probably be .45cal bullets instead of the .40's in 240 and 300 grains.

My only real b*t*h with the QT's is how expensive they are. When I take the ML to the range I'll shoot as many as 40 bullets in a sitting, which equates to $44 worth of bullets alone at local prices! The Hornady XTP sabots are much cheaper ($6 per 20), but don't shoot as well as I'd like (3" groups at 100) and the ones they carry around here all have the standard green sabots not the high pressure black magnum ones (which might be why the accuracy sucks).

I use three .54 sidelocks. The two Renegades both like a 430 T/C Maxi-ball over 110gr ffg Goex BP. The Deerstalker likes a 430 T/C Maxi-ball over 100gr ffg Goex BP. I've played with sabots. Sabots and round balls are excellent for plinking and playing around.
