Which Gun would you choose ???
Still debating on which gun to choose. I have never shot a ML and wont get the chance until I buy one. My search is now narrowed down to four guns. Please help me by choosing only one of the four guns (for whitetailed deer) with a brief explanation as to why you would choose that gun. Thanks for the help.
1)Knight Wolverine209 22" barrel 50cal $240-$340 2)T/C Omega50 28" barrel 50cal $340-$425 3)CVA Firebolt209Ultramag 26" barrel 50cal $235-$265 4)CVA Hunterbolt 24" barrel 50cal $168-$215 |
RE: Which Gun would you choose ???
Of those 4 I'd go with the Omega. I've had great service from TC and I also think if you take care of the gun and ever decide to sell it it'll maintain better value. JMHO

RE: Which Gun would you choose ???
I haven't shot the Omega, the design seems to be fantastic. If it shoots like the Encore you can't go wrong. I bought a Wolverine for my father a few years back. His gun shoots just as good as my higher dollar Knight. You can't go wrong with any Knight. I've called Knight with a few questions over the years and always got polite and helpful people on the other end. As for CVA I never owned or dealt with this company, so I couldn't comment on them.

RE: Which Gun would you choose ???
I bought the CVA 209 fireblot ultra mag few months ago and Im very happy with it for the price I think its tuff to beat. I have fire about 100 shots from it using both TC sabots and CVA power plets and im getting very good groups using 90gr of triple seven. As for preformance on deer Ill try to get bask on here tommorrow night season opens for ML in the mourning

If price doesn't mean anything, I'd get the Omega. I like the long barrel.

RE: Which Gun would you choose ???
The Omega, hands down.
By far the nicest gun of the four you mentioned, and T/C has a long history of high quality arms. The long barrel will give you a little more velocity, and the falling block style action is simple, clean and easy. My only gripe would be the need to cock a hammer, but it's no more a problem than with any sidelock gun. RE: Which Gun would you choose ???
dont know about #1 and #4. i have the 209 ultramag and its a good gun. my in-law and his cous. have the omega and to tell you the truth the omega is so simple of a design, you wouldnt beleive it.the only thing i dont like about the omega is when you take out or put back the ramrod it sounds like you're scrubbing 2 peices of metal together and its loud
