RE: white mountain carbine
The White[/b] Mountain Carbine is one of those rifles that have gone through a series of changes. The early rifles had a very fast twist. I think it was 1-24 and then there were some that were 1-32 twist as I remember. Even some 1-48 twist rifles were there. You can also get a Green Mountain Drop in barrel in 21 inches for the rifle.
It probably has a 1-32 twist. They are great conical shooters. Most people shoot the maxiball and Great Plains Conicals out of them with excellent results. There is no reason why it will not shoot sabots also. I am sure you're going to like the rifle. |

The carbine is areal thompson center, it has .50cal 22in barrel sidelock...looks like little hawken w/single trigger

I think i can figure the twist w/tight jag. Is ther anyway to take the creep out of the trigger?

RE: white mountain carbine
I think there are manuals you can download at the Thompson Center Website. If not, call them and they will send you one. In that manual it will tell you how to operate the rifle, and at the same time ask them about the trigger. They might have suggestions of how to fix your problem with it.

RE: white mountain carbine
Try 275 grain maxihunters with a bore button (wad), and 80 grains Goex ffg. You may also want to try 250 grain XTP's. My WMC came without the instruction manual, I called T/C and I had my manual in 3 days.

RE: white mountain carbine
I just seen a barrel on e bay WMC in a flinter with a 1 in 20 twist rare find I never thought they made the WMC in a flinter
I know the WMC stock is the same as the PA HUNTER stock which I think looks more traditional then the hawkens stock |
RE: white mountain carbine
The first deer I ever shot with a muzzle loader was with a T.C. White Mountin Carbine. Its a great rifle. I use a Great Planes bullet and 80 grains of RS ane it works great.
And yes Frontier gander Even as old as it is it will slap any White in the face!!! |
RE: white mountain carbine
i think they are 1-32 twist,i have one and i shot the great plains bullets in mine . i killed about 20 deer with mine . good little gun.
