CVA wolf or traditions Yukon
 

I am at an impass and need some input. I like the break open action (ease to load and clean) of the wolf. I as well like the fit of the yukon. It definatly fits me better and looks like it is easy to clean. Gimme some unabashed opinions! Thanks, EJ

I just got a Wolf within the last few months and am very happy with it. I gave $100 brand new in the box. Never owning or even shooting a ML before in my life I'm pleased with it's performance. Still playing around with the powder loads and going to try a few different bullets. There is a post down the page alittle and I've posted a picture of my target. Looks like the Tradition retails for about the same. I would throw the wolf up to your shoulder and see how it feels and fits youand do the same with the Yukon a few more times and then make your choice.

sisfire has some good advise. Both of them are going to do you fine. I have heard good reports concerning both rifles. They are approximately the same cost wise, although the Yukon is a little more expensive. So it would boil down to ... if they are both in your price range, get your hands on each. Pull them to your shoulder. And check their fit.

A little trick I use to check fit is, close your eyes, pull the rifle to your shoulder, shoulder the weapon, and open your eyes.. See how much adjustment you have to do to line the sights up on the rifle.

They both have 209 igniton, I am under the impression that both the barrels are actually made in the same factory, they both have the same twist. So base you choice on fit, over all appearance of stock to hardware, TRIGGER PULL, and general appearance.

You're money, they will shoot the same, your choice. Good luck.

CVA Wolf.

I handled the traditions and it was a nice rifle but didnt compair in quality as the wolf.

The only experience I have with the two rifles are the Wolf.. kind of.

I helped a friend's son sight in a Beartooth Magnum made by New Frontier, which is a BPI company and the same as a Wolf. I have to admit, it sighted in real fast, and being a $100 rifle was well made considering the cost. It shot 80 grains of Triple Se7en and 240 gr XTP also the 245 gr Powerbelts fine. In fact the kid took a doe that year at 35 yards with a powerbelt and dropped her right there.

Ok, so I have taken a good look at the two and from what I can tell the yukon is trying to be just like the remington genisis. In fact, they are so similar that I cant figure as to why there isnt a lawsuit or something. The breech block comes out on the yukon and cams over on the remington. Definatly a great design. I Am gonna take a look tonight at both again and decide. Does the wolf have that last inch of the barrel unrifles for ease of loading? I know the yukon does. EJ

yeah the wolf has the QLA. The remington rifle is made by tradtions so thats why they look the same and pretty much the same design except the yukon has the shorter barrel. I personally would go with the wolf but thats up to you. You'll have to make sure which fit you better. I didnt like how much pressure was required to open the block on the yukon.

I have both guns you mention.The Wolf, IMOhasbetter front sights, lesshollow feeling stock. The Yukon seems quicker to shoulder. The Wolf can pinch fingers upon closing the action until you learnwhere to place your fingers upon closing. The Yukon breech block sometimes sticks below the breech face or evenoverextends itself above the breech face. Just somethingyou gave to pay attention to to get it in the correct closed position. I believe overall the Wolf is a better mechanical design and would go with function over form.

I have a wolf. good guns for the price. I'd give it another look. I know mine is a great gun and i recommend it to anyone

ejpaul1, Remington doesn't make the Genesis. Remington buys the Genesis via Traditions who imports both the Genesis and the Yukon from Spain. Traditions handles all parts,service and warranty for the Remington Genesis.

Crazy world!

Remington was just sold to a private investor group,by the way.
