New Scope on my White

I found a Thompson Center 1X32mm scope which is the only legal scope in Wisconsin since magnification is not allowed. I had my friend the gunsmith mount it for me with some Warne Maxima QD rings. Now I can change out with the Nikon Pro Staff between seasons since I only hunt with muzzleloaders.

I personally like the way it looks. Tomorrow we will see how it shoots and if it does improve my accuracy as I suspect. As I stated, I am having real problems with the open sights at longer distances. I am hoping this will solve all of that.

It is a wise man who knows his limitations.

I like the way it looks and hope it helps with your long range shooting. I also like the QD rings. What are the most reasonably priced functional set of QD rings and bases and where is the best place to get them? Cleaning my ML with the scope on is a real pain.

They had a big sale on them a while back at Cabela's I think it was. They were almost half price. So I bought three setsof them. Never know when you have a new scope in the family show up. I have no idea where the best prices on the Warne Maxma QD rings are anymore. I sure do like those rings though. And I agree, when I can take the scope off for cleaning, it seems it makes it a lot easier to clean the rifle and scope.

So taking it off doesn't effect the accuracy at all?

The Nikon Pro Staff which is this rifles other scope is on the same kind ofrings. I would hate to guess how many times it has been on and off the rifle and I have no doubt that the rifle will hit right where it is aimed. So far I have not really noticed a change in the POI of the scope.

Dave, it does look good - really good.

I have never seen a 1x scope - I can not imagine what a 1 power picture might look like. If I ever see one in a store I am going to have to look through it...

When are you gonna shoot it?

Tomorrow I will hit the range unless it is raining. Actually I was looking into the fog tonight with it. There really did not seem to be a real advantage in lightgatheringother then the crosshairs stick right out there where you can see them. I was looking into the woods at 50 yards where I have a archery 3D deer target. I could not see it through the scope or with my eye in the dark and fog. But we will see tomorrow what it does with the targets.

cayugad I just bought the pine ridge 1x20 scope that cabelas sales yesterday. They had a Law Enforcement appreciation sale and with my discount I picked it up for 41.99. I have a simmons 1x20 that I been using on the Lighting and It is hard to see my target past 50 yards but my groups are pretty impressive with it. Ask savagescout he was there one day. The pine ridge looks to be more clear and things dont seem to be as small compared to the simmons. The good part is it is only 69 dollars brand new. I still shoot red dots alot but I really like the scope for the crosshairs. Good luck with yours and report back on your results.

I never knew simmons made a 1X scope... I will keep you posted on how well it works.
